Yep...We're Old

It's New Year's Eve...AND...We're chilling at home...probably won't see the clock turn over into a new decade...because we're old like that.  New years never really excited me enough to stay awake to welcome them in.  I am most excited about the promise of a new year and excited to see what it holds for me and my family.  I have lots of plans for the new year.  Things I want to accomplish and things I want to change.  Here's praying that we can all live a life pleasing to God.

Christmas has come and gone and with that comes the multitude of new toys.  Is it just me or do people seem to go out and think to themselves (while chuckling at my impending mental breakdown)...what would be the most annoying toy for a child to play with and then proceed to buy it?  Ava got some doozies this year.  I'm going a little crazy around here.  Hopefully things will be back to normal soon.  Until then...Happy New Year!

Christmas Overload

We're on Christmas overload.  We visited all of our family and now we are chilling...enjoying each other and soaking up this time with our daughter.  I want to freeze time.  I love this feeling!  I don't want to this fun to end.  (Although I know come Monday it will have to.)  I am off to play with my family!  Enjoy your holiday!

I typed this post back before Matt's birthday and thought I had it scheduled for that day...obviously I wrong.  Here it is a few days late...sorry babe!

Today is the day...my main squeeze celebrates another year.  He's knocking on the door of a new decade in life.  And yet...he's cool with it (I guess having a younger wife keeps you young?).

I am so lucky to have such a Godly husband who loves and adores me.  I am so proud of who my husband is and the father that he is to our daughter.  Thank you babe for all you do!

Matt...I hope you have an amazing birthday!  I love you to the moon and back!

Dance DANCE!!!

Ava is doing so much better with dance.  We have progressed from me having to sit in the room for the entire class...to me being about to sneak out after a few minutes...to Ava just waltzing in this past Thursday without a single "Mommy...come with me!"

So this week at dance was their Christmas party and parents and grandparents got to come and watch.  It was so cute!  I had Matt video but for the life of me I can't find the cord that attachs the video camera to the computer.  Oh well...it'll turn up!

PS  I am not sure what is up with my camera...It is currently taking awful pictures and I don't know what to do about it...

Christmas Card 2009

This year I have decided to Participate in Faith's Christmas Card Carousel.  I am so excited to share our card wih everyone.  Enjoy!

I love the look of a homemade Christmas card. The imperfections reflect our own lives as imperfect people.   I look forward each year to jotting down my ideas and turning them into reality.  I had so much fun trying to get a good picture of Ava (it only took about 200+ to get a good one since I wasn't using the flash) and then watching each step transform ordinary cardstock into a beautiful Christmas card.  I am absolutely thrilled with how they turned out.  Let me know what you think...I love feedback on my craft projects!  Enjoy!

PS Those of you who guessed on this post...the answer is in fact Disney World and we had just rounded the corner and she caught her first glimpse (this trip) of Cinderella's Castle.  She was so excited and I just love the whole series of pictures that I took at that exact moment.  Shock...and then pure excitement!  *swoon*

What's a Mom to do?

I sit here writing this in a temporary child-free home.  Ava is off playing with some family and here I sit...what is a stay at home Mom to do with no baby child to take care of?

I could wash a load of clothes...or wrap the Christmas presents that have taken over my sewing room...or finish up the little bit of Christmas shopping I have to do...or a world of other things...but I think I will sit right here...watching food network with my Mt. Dew and checking out more Christmas Home Tours over at The Nester's blog.  And maybe...just maybe...TAKE A NAP!  I think it's a well deserved treat!

Christmas Home Tour-2009

Welcome!  I am so excited to share my few Christmas decorations with all of you.  Please enjoy and come back soon!

We have a very traditional Christmas tree.  There is no theme...no color schemes.  Just ornaments we love and were given over the years from our parents.  We do the ame for Ava.  She gets a new ornament every year and one day very far from now she will take them with her when she moves out.

I love getting Christmas Cards.  I always try and display them somewhere for everyone to enjoy.  And it's easy decorations.

Here is a wreath I made.  Lana made one and I just couldn't wait to try it out. 

I love to creatively use things...this is a cupcake stand...Christmas ornaments and ribbon.  L-O-V-E!!!

I think I want a facelift...

Not for me sillies...for my blog.  Although a facelift for me in a few years might not be too bad.  Anyone wanting to leave me some ideas or designer info, feel free.  I need help...

We've been busy little bees today.  It started with Mom and I getting up at 6am to go to Old Navy when they opened (at 7am) for some fabulous fleece jackets that were all of...$5!!!  Love me some sales!  After we finished I headed back home and started cleaning.  We are having company tomorrow and we have been putting up some final decorations before then.  I still have a few little things to do (like try to make this wreath that I found on Lana's blog).  We also made time to go visit Santa.
